Who am i?
My name is Carlton Dossou (Dough-Sue) and I'm from Los Angeles, CA! I'm a Loyola Marymount University Graduate. A nonprofit founder. A published poet. An event producer. The list goes on, but before all of that I was just an inner city kid with a dream! Which is why I am a budding philanthropist and creative! A creative that wants to create for good! Using my creations to do my part in reshaping society’s narrative of what kids like me can accomplish with their lives!
During my time at Loyola Marymount University, I founded my very own nonprofit, We Got Next LA (WGN LA)!
WGN LA is an after-school program that'll serve inner-city and other at-risk K–12 students in LA! Offering them tutoring, mentoring, extracurricular classes, special events, and community outreach opportunities Our mission is to give at-risk youth resources to stay on top of their studies to equalize the educational playing field while also engaging them with opportunities that will immerse them in their creative passions.
Other Creative Pursuits
Outside of my nonprofit, I'm immersed in various creative fields! Whether it's my poetry, which has gotten me featured in Loyola Marymount's Tower Yearbook, VoyageLA, and the Sims Library of Poetry! Has also led to me publishing two poetry books of my own, Morceaux de Moi and The Garden Beneath the Concrete. Or it's event-producing when I'm producing my own mini-festival fundraisers for WGN LA, or co-producing events in collaboration with companies like Complex & Buzzfeed! Or it's through film photography or short films. The list goes on.
